From My Green Perspective...Medical Freedom is Key

The SARS Cov2 / Covid pandemic qualifies as a social and political catastrophe for the American republic because the vaccine mandate is dividing the country deeply and it undermines basic principles of liberty. This problem inspires my ‘Green’ perspective on what is important.

As a Green, I am inspired by the idea of Liberty as an overarching value.

Recall this passage from the Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.—That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

These words from the Declaration of Independence affirm our right, we the people, to object to how our government behaves and conducts itself domestically and internationally. It is the domestic issue of medical freedom and access to the best health care possible that concerns me the most.

The Federal Mandates for experimental vaccines, and the denial of early treatment protocols for Covid infections, is an infringement on our inherent sovereign right to control our well being by having access to a truly just medical system provides access to treatments consistent with our choice and provides for informed consent.

I oppose the vaccine mandates, as they are experimental and cannot be consented to in a fully informed way. So on that point, I oppose our Federal medical policy of mandating vaccines. And, I am skeptical about Federal claims about the SARS Cov2 and believe Greens should call for absolute full transparency and accountability from medical and pharmaceutical industries who develop, manufacture and profit from manufacturing and selling vaccines.

In any case, access to healthcare is a human right and must include all medical healthcare needs as vision, dental, mental health services and hospitalization, and protected for all Oregonians. It should ensure the availability of rehabilitation and adaptive aids, to allow those with other abilities to achieve maximum independence as well. 

While citizens have the right and responsibility to make their own decisions regarding the care of their own person, public health messaging should include plugs for good healthcare based on prevention first, and recognize the value of a variety of modalities of healthcare which should include yoga, dance, herbs, homeopathy, acupuncture, Ayurvedic, massage, reiki, spiritual and the many other forms of healing and prevention.

Most importantly, society must Institute a single-payer health care system for all which guarantees the sovereign right of all patients to make informed personal medical decisions, including birth support and end of life, and not be employment based, but be inherent in the human right to dignity. And all patients have the right to choose their health care providers.

When we consider our medical treatment options, precautionary and preventive principles should be applied in all decisions regarding public and private health.

Medical policy must respect a parent’s right to choose a medical course for their child.

Human rights are paramount in what is important. Therefore, we Greens should demand Compliance with medical protections of UNESCO, Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights, 2005, Geneva Convention and Nuremberg Code.

Personal health depends on public health.  Public health requires the well-being of the natural, built, and social environments.

Therefore, we all must fight the release of toxic chemicals, radiation from high voltage power lines, and prohibit the location radio antenna facilities near residential areas, schools, and minority and low-income communities.

Finally, everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the maintenance of good health.
